MicroDynamics, a manufacturer of surface profile inspection systems, and BW Converting, a provider of printing, packaging and converting machinery, have announced the integration of advanced anilox inspection technology within the all-new PCMC Meridian Elite+ laser roll cleaner.

The non-exclusive partnership features a MicroDynamics’ Veritas inspection microscope and MicroScan3 analysis software integrated directly into BW Converting’s Meridian Elite+ laser roll cleaner. The new system debuted at FTA FORUM INFOFLEX 2025. Visitors witnessed the latest automation, intelligence and efficiency in anilox cleaning and inspection.

Plus, the Meridian Elite+ has been engineered for converters seeking to improve print repeatability, reduce defects, and extend roll longevity. By automating roll cleaning and inspection, the system reduces manual intervention. Therefore, operators are freed up to focus on other critical tasks while capturing consistent, accurate inventory data for optimization.

Additionally, BW Converting selected MicroDynamics as a technology partner based on their shared commitment to accuracy, innovation, and standardization.

“The Meridian Elite+ represents a significant step forward in anilox and gravure roll cleaning technology,” states Mike Branstrom, product manager, BW Converting. “Adding the MicroDynamics Veritas inspection microscope and analysis software is a gamechanger. We’re combining automation with smart, connected features to give converters a powerful tool for optimizing pressroom efficiency, extending roll life and maintaining exceptional print quality.”

Full automation

With MicroDynamics technology onboard, the Meridian Elite+ can capture fully automated cell volume measurements with ±1% repeatability. Meanwhile, performance is powered by the Veritas microscope and controlled through the Meridian Elite+ HMI. Measurements are captured and stored by the MicroScan3 software in a built-in database. This feature enables traceability and a more strategic and efficient approach to roll maintenance scheduling.

In addition, the Meridian Elite+ automation features allow for a deep integration into PCMC’s Accelerate data services platform. This enables an enhanced level of analytics and smart features for safety and efficiency.

“This collaboration enables true closed-loop anilox cleaning and validation,” says Brent Zurcher, director of operations, MicroDynamics. “Embedding the speed and accuracy of our inspection solutions into the Meridian Elite+ cleaning workflow breaks through the manual barriers for inspection while improving roll performance, tracking, and process standardization. It’s innovation at its best.”
